Centennial President’s Project – Honor Flight Vermont
Honor Flight New England joined with the national organization Honor Flight Network in the Spring of 2009, and is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America’s most senior veterans.
Through generous donations, HFNE transports our heroes to Washington, D.C., to visit and reflect at their memorials AT NO COST TO THE VETERAN. Top priority is currently given to the WWII Veterans, along with terminally ill veterans. Applications are being accepted for Veterans of all eras to be placed on waiting lists for upcoming flights. With approximately 500 WWII Veterans dying each day, and many Korean War Veterans not far behind in age, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out. |

Currently Vermont has under 2,000 living WWII Veterans with around
450 holding membership within the Vermont American Legion. The
American Legion holds many funeral services and celebrations of life
each year for these hero’s who pass on to “Post Everlasting” without
having the opportunity to experience an honor flight and be thanked for
their service to our country and the freedom they have preserved for
this great nation.
American Legion Auxiliary Centennial President, Corrinna E. Colson
partnered with Honor Flight New England Founder, Joe Byron to raise
awareness of the program and funds to send as many Vermont
Veterans on the Honor Flight to visit their memorials and is calling
her Presidents Project Honor Flight Vermont!

Her knowledge of this amazing organization began when the son of her favorite WWII Ex-POW Veteran, Ken Brown, Sr. approached her with the desire to get his father on a flight for his 100th Birthday. She contacted HFNE and after pleading to Joe Byron to find a space on a seemingly full flight, Ken’s son got his wish and the two were booked on the Father’s Day Honor Flight.
Ken was given the opportunity of a lifetime to visit the war monuments in Washington DC with his son that created a priceless bond between them. Ken was honored and given respect for his service and his son a better understanding of the importance of his father’s role in securing the freedom for many during WWII.

It’s time to give the remaining Vermont Veterans this opportunity! ALA President Corrinna is seeking to find eligible Veterans and raise enough funds to send as many of these deserving Vermont Veterans as possible on an Honor Flight before their time runs out.
Please contribute to her impossible goal of raising $39,000 the cost to send an airplane full of Veterans to Washington DC to visit their war monuments and reflect on the past. You may contribute as little or as much as you can, but every little bit helps us reach our goal. If you work for or know of a company, you feel may contribute please ask them or let us know and we can assist you with information to assist them in making a tax-deductible donation. |
Let’s Celebrate the Centennial by reaching our ALA President’s impossible goal of $39,000 and send our senior most Veterans on the flight of a life time before time runs out! Thank you in advance for your donation! All business and non-profit contributors will be listed on our website for recognition and the website progress meter will be updated weekly!
